John Edward Burton, Sr. founded J.E. Burton Construction Company in 1937. The company was primarily engaged in residential and light commercial construction. During the early 1950's, the decision was made to withdraw from the residential construction sector due to increased construction demands in the industrial and institutional construction markets. J.E. Burton Construction Co., Inc. has always prided itself in completing projects within time and budget constraints set forth by the owner. Today, J.E. Burton Construction Co., Inc. is known in Southside Virginia as a reputable construction firm dedicated to meeting today's owner's needs through communication, quality craftsmanship, and teamwork between owner, designer, subcontractors, and suppliers.

In the late 1960's, John Edward Burton, Jr. became the second generation President of J.E. Burton Construction Co., Inc. In 2000, after twelve years in the field and ten years as Vice President, J. Brian Burton became the third generation President. Also sharing in his corporate leadership as Vice President is A. Dean Elliott. Dean came to J.E. Burton Construction Co., Inc. in 1985, bringing with him vast experience as project manager and estimator after having worked with John W. Daniels and Co. Brian and Dean equally assume the responsibilities of estimating, billing, subcontracting, purchase orders, job progression, and monitoring Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.

Over the past 65 years, J.E. Burton Construction Co., Inc. has grown in expertise in pricing, scheduling, and building so the owner experiences a smooth transition in their endeavors. It is with this expertise, communication, and teamwork that will prove J.E. Burton Construction Co., Inc. to be successful in the year 2005 and into the next century.
